I know it has been a while since this original post but I would curious to see what you write for counter offer. When the need for a counter offer has come up for me. Once I get the offer letter I call to say thanks for the offer letter and go into how they came up to decision of giving x amount. If it is to little then I go into why I would like to take this position but I will need to get more and here are the reasons why. For all the times I had to this, a whole 1.
