Hi there! My name is Daniel Johnson, Jr., and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Welcome to Get That Job! – a job-search strategy blog devoted to the job search in the 21st century.
In 2002 I found myself in a job search and wanted to keep track of information, links, etc., that I found online. I figured that information I found helpful would also be useful to others: a snippet of advice, a good quote from somewhere, some encouragement, success stories, job market information, etc.
During my 2002 job search, as I’d leave to go on interviews and such, my wife would tell me, “Go get that job!” Hence the title.
The initial idea behind the blog was to have contributors submit content to share with others. Over time it’s become more of something I’ve maintained on my own.
I use this blog to talk about what it’s like to look for a job in today’s world, often highlighting resources and ideas I’ve found. Having moved the blog from Blogger to WordPress a year ago, I realize I still have a way to go to help bring the content I’ve collected over the years more out in the open so you can find it. If you’re looking for something on the site but cannot find it, please let me know, either by sending a message through the Contact page or by emailing me at daniel at getthatjobonline dot com.
Job seekers love to be inspired by stories of how others got their jobs. If you have a success story you’d like to share, please email them to successstories at howigotmyjob dot com. I have launched as a complementary site an internet radio show (podcast) of interviews with others who have shared their job-hunting success stories, called “How I Got My Job“.
