Pursuing my passion is what rought me into the realm of pro blogging in the first place. My first blog was formed a few months before Hurricane Katrina hit, it's original focus was a passion of mine- the art and music scene of New Orleans. After the storm and attendant levee failure it transmuted into a place to share resources and news as well as interacting online over vast distances. Over the intervening years it has become a combination news/editorial/political blog with a team fluctuating between 3 and 20 bloggers at any given point.

Having the experience in online team management combined with the attentions our efforts had received in mainstream media (BBC, Air America, etc.) gave me the experience to get hired on at Patron Saint Productions where I began to both produce content and instruct others on blogging and social media.

The important thing is that it all grew organically.Everything in the past four years was a direct result of my passsion for my home after the disaster. Now I hope that the vast majority (at least) of readers never have something so intensely unpleasant as a motivating force, but it is the extremes that make good illustrations.

Find what you love and aim your efforts there.

Thans for the great post, Daniel!
